初賽詳情 Preliminary Selection Details:

參賽者於報名時需提交︰

● 少於 5分鐘歌唱表演 ( 獨唱、合唱、清唱、伴奏演唱或自彈自唱影片均可)

● MP4格式

● 於影片起初及完結清楚說出自己的姓名，並需以參賽者說出的全名命名影片檔案

Upon registration, contestants must submit:

● A video recording (MP4 format) not exceeding 5 minutes in length, featuring singing performances (solo, duet, a cappella, accompaniment, or self-accompanied singing videos are all acceptable).
● Contestants must clearly state their name at both the beginning and the conclusion of the video, and the video file must be named using the contestant’s full English name.

A panel of preliminary judges will assess submissions based on voice quality, musicality, technique and Singing potential.

Hello everyone! As we look forward to the arrival of 2026, we want to invite you to join us for a Volunteer Recruitment event with the Chinatown BIA. We understand how meaningful the Lunar New Year of the Horse can be, representing new beginnings and hope.

Your support matters, and we would be truly grateful for your help in making this celebration memorable. Whether you choose to volunteer or simply join us in the festivities, know that your presence will bring joy to our community.

Event Detail:

Event: 2026 Toronto Chinatown Lunar New Year Celebration

Date: Saturday, February 21 &  Sunday, February 22, 2026

Venue: Toronto Chinatown (along Spadina Avenue, between College Street and Sullivan street, with Dundas Street West between Bathurst Street and Beverley Street)

 

Volunteer Responsibilities Include:

Assisting with setting up and packing away event materials.
Offering a warm welcome to guests, including celebrities and visitors.
Providing directions and information to performers and attendees.
Assisting with props and materials for performances and activities.
Hosting activity booths to engage visitors and encourage participation.
Handing out traditional red envelopes around Dragon City Mall.
Assisting with other tasks as needed to ensure the event runs smoothly.

Volunteer Safety Guidelines:

We encourage all guests and volunteers to be mindful of personal space and respect others’ comfort regarding social distancing.
High-touch areas will be disinfected regularly, and we’ve increased our cleaning schedule.
Volunteers and staff will complete a health self-assessment before entering the event space.

Volunteer Orientation:

There will be a mandatory orientation session in January to help familiarize you with the event and your role. Please fill out the attached questionnaire to provide your basic information and help us get to know you a little better before we begin. We kindly ask you to complete the form before 1st January 2026.

Position Overview

The Administrative Director is a key leadership role responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Toronto Chinatown Business Improvement Area (BIA). This individual oversees administrative systems, supervises staff, supports financial planning, and ensures effective implementation of policies and programs that support the BIA’s mission and its Board of Management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage office operations, systems, and administrative staff to ensure smooth and efficient functioning.

  • Oversee payroll, correspondence, records management, procurement, and clerical processes.

  • Develop and implement administrative policies and procedures to support organizational goals.

  • Lead budgeting processes and monitor expenditures, ensuring alignment with financial objectives.

  • Recruit, onboard, and manage staff, including performance appraisals, training, and mentorship.

  • Act as a liaison between the Board, committees, members, contractors, and stakeholders.

  • Prepare reports, meeting agendas, and minutes for Board and committee meetings.

  • Conduct research and provide support for projects, community programs, and strategic initiatives.

  • Monitor trends, summarize external communications, and provide recommendations to the Board.

  • Carry out other duties as assigned by the Board or committees.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Non-Profit Management, Public Administration, or a related field.

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in office management, administration, or similar leadership role.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Experience managing staff, budgets, and operational systems.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital collaboration tools (e.g., Google Workspace, Zoom, etc.).

  • Knowledge of BIAs, municipal processes, or community-based organizations is an asset.

  • Bilingualism (English and Cantonese/Mandarin) is an asset.

Working Conditions

This position is based in-person at the Toronto Chinatown BIA office. Occasional evening or weekend meetings (e.g., Board meetings or public events) may be required.

As we look forward to the arrival of 2025, excitement is in the air! Many members of the Asian community celebrate not only January 1st but also the Lunar New Year, a time of renewal and joy. This year, the Toronto Chinatown BIA is eager to celebrate with you and share the happiness of a fresh start with our community—and we need your help!

We’re looking for volunteers to help make this Lunar New Year celebration a memorable one! Your support will help us create a vibrant and joyful event for everyone to enjoy.

Volunteer Responsibilities Include:

We are excited to announce that the 24rd Toronto Chinatown Festival (TCF) is coming back this summer! This popular summer festival not only pays tribute to Chinese culture, it is also a tourist attraction for the City of Toronto. We’re looking for volunteers to join us for our biggest summer event. 2024 Toronto Chinatown Festival
Date & Time: Saturday, August 17, 2024, 12:00 noon – 11:00 pm
                         Sunday, August 18, 2024, 11:00 am – 8:00 pm
          Venue: Toronto Chinatown (west of Spadina Avenue, between Sullivan St & St. Andrew St.)

Volunteer responsibility includes:
– Set up and tear down event materials.
– Greet guests, celebrities, and visitors in a good manner.
– Provide direction and information to performers and visitors.
– Help get props for performances and activities.
– Host activity booths and attract visitors to get involved.
– Assist on other duties as required.

There will be a mandatory orientation session in July, 2024 (Date and time to be confirmed). It will be held at 287 Spadina Avenue, Third Floor.

Project: 2024 Huron Square Promotion and Activation Event
Event Date/Time: Sat Sept 21, 2024 | 2:00pm – 6:00pm
Location: Huron Square (between Huron St. & Dundas St. W.)

For the upcoming Huron Square Variety Event, we are looking for:

1. EVENT PLANNER

  • (A) **TOTAL COST: $7,000 CAD ALL INCLUSIVE** Flat event planner fee to cover general consultation & event planning, performances arrangement (minimum of five) and coordination, performers’ fee, sound system & technicians,, 3-4 cultural or activity booths with activities and materials/gifts provided free for attendees (CBIA will provide 1 table and 2 chairs for each booth). A further breakdown of this fee includes event planner on site duties, graphic design for event elements, media planning, social media platform and promotion, advertising production, post-event report;
  • (B) Breakdown cost for each item above to be provided (they can be grouped) in the tender
  • (C) Performances schedule & suggestions on cultural/activities booths – the inclusion of a photographic booth is mandatory.
  • (D) Optional cost shall be listed, if any (e.g.Photographer & Videographer, power generator) * Extra cost & arrangement on tables, chairs and/or furniture shall be specified in tender
