April 18, 2019
The Blue Hog ten-week program is starting from April 22. During the project, there will be a higher presence from both 52 Divisions and 14 Divisions in the Chinatown Area. There will also be dedicating officers to communicate with the neighbourhood to prevent potential break-ins; the Asian officers will be in the neighbourhood to break the language barriers.
Mathew Moyer, Inspector from Toronto Police 52 Division, said in the press conference, “the goal for this year is to make the report system user-friendly.” 52 Division and 14 Division community officers will coordinate a newsletter in both Chinese and English with Chinatown BIA to explain the system. Matthew Moyer also encouraged the businesses in Chinatown to work with each other by reporting suspicious activities and installing cameras and lights to record the crime.
Cash and electrical devices should be kept in save places overnight; few lights kept on overnight will also help to prevent the possibility of break and enter.
