Small Business Taxation Questionnaire

 

Dear Chinatown BIA Members,

 

Subject: Input Requested - Small Business Taxes in Toronto

 

The City of Toronto is interested in understanding how commercial property taxes and the business education tax impact the operations of small businesses.  Your input into the following survey will assist the City of Toronto in better characterizing the challenges small businesses face.

Public Meeting Notice for Proposed Peak Hour Extensions

 

Dear Chinatown BIA Members,

 

The City of Toronto is proposing to extend some Peak Hour Restrictions along three major downtown streetcar routes between Roncesvalles Avenue and Parliament Street, including:

 

•Dundas Street

•College/Carlton Streets

•Queen Street West

 

What are “Peak Hour Restrictions”?

Peak hour restrictions are stopping, parking, and left turn restrictions during morning and evening rush hours, or “peak hours”. These restrictions improve travel times.

 

Project Goals:

Improve travel times, reliability of streetcar services and consistency of restrictions throughout the downtown area. 

 

Chinatown BIA would like our members to have their say. Our business WILL BE AFFECTED. Please plan to attend the City Meeting to learn more about the project and EXPRESS YOUR CONCERNS.

15th Annual Toronto Chinatown Festival

 

Dear Chinatown BIA Merchants and Residents, 

 

This year’s Toronto Chinatown Festival will be held on Saturday, August 22nd and Sunday, August 23rd, 2015 with operation times as follows: 

 

Saturday, August 22nd, 2015: 12:00pm – 11:00pm 

Sunday, August 23rd, 2015: 11:00am – 8:00pm 

 

During the road closure period, please remove all vehicles from the West Side of Spadina Avenue between Sullivan Street & St Andrew Street before 12:01am on Saturday, August 22nd, 2015. Spadina Avenue Southbound lanes will re-open on Sunday, August 23rd at 11:00pm. All vehicles not removed by Festival road closure start time will be subjected to towing at owners’ expense, in accordance with Toronto By-Laws. (Merchants: please arrange for alternative delivery arrangements during road closure period.) 

 

TTC streetcars running along Spadina Ave and Dundas St W will remain fully operational during the Festival period. 

 

Festival booth vendor package, corporate sponsorship package and volunteer opportunities for the Festival will be available upon request. All applications will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis. Interested vendors, corporate sponsors and volunteers should leave your name and contact information with Ms. Tammy Lo or Ms. Zhan Zhang at 416-260-9800 or via email at tammylo@chinatownbia.com or zhanzhang@chinatownbia.com.
