Organized by Toronto Chinatown Business Improvement Area (Chinatown BIA), the 14th Annual Chevrolet presents Toronto Chinatown Festival will be held on July 19th (12:00pm to 11:00pm) and 20th (11:00am to 8:00pm) on Dundas St. W. and Huron St. It is estimated that over 150,000 local visitors from different communities will attend the event.
This will be the 14th year the Chinatown BIA will organize the Toronto Chinatown Festival presented by Chevrolet. The location will be changed from Spadina Ave. to Dundas St. W., between Spadina Ave. and Beverley St. The Festival will also be on Huron St. between Dundas St. W. and D’Arcy St.
The theme of this year’s Chevrolet presents Toronto Chinatown Festival will be “Journey to the West”, with Money King as one of the main characters. The Festival will feature 6 activity booths, where you can embark on a quest of knowledge and discover the Monkey King’s incredible “Journey to the West”. Be sure to end your journey at the AGO Activity Hub with activities and giveaways that are sponsored by the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO). Upon completion of the 6 activities, participants will be able to collect comic pages of the “Journey to the West” story as illustrated and created by Sun Bros Studios. Be sure to venture onto Huron St. to discover more elements of this magical Journey. Don’t forget to be on the lookout for the mischievous Monkey King himself roaming around the Festival!
As stated by Tonny Louie, Chair of Chinatown BIA, “a lot of people love the Money King and are fascinated by the story of the “Journey to the West”. This year, with the “Journey to the West” as the theme of the Festival, it provides people with a surreal experience of the story. We invite people from different communities to join together and enjoy everything that Chinatown has to offer. ”
There will be more than 100 exquisite food and merchandise booths. Each visitor will find something special to take away. In addition to wonderful performances on the Chevrolet (main) stage, three busking stages brought to you by OLG Slots at Woodbine Racetrack’s LIVE Concert Series will be added to provide more dynamic performances to visitors.
