Welcome to Toronto Chinatown!

Together with our Volunteer Board of Directors, staff members, and volunteers, we are very excited to present new initiatives in which we are currently developing in order to make Chinatown a cleaner and safer environment for those living in and working in the area.

We are now in the process of taking store of what Chinatown is today and what it could possibly be like a few years from now. We acknowledge that Chinatown requires a major overhaul in many areas such as policing, illegal street vending, petty theft, graffiti, panhandling, and loitering. As well, the storefront facades and garbage accumulation needs to be regularly maintained.

We are currently working with the Toronto Police Service, 52 Division on a policing program operation that deals with the issue of petty crime. We are also working with the City of Toronto regarding graffiti removal and aesthetically pleasing mural designs. One of the bigger projects involves creating a permanent landmark that distinguishes and symbolizes Toronto Chinatown.

The Toronto Chinatown BIA has formed various committees in order to deal with pressing issues for our members. This, includes the Event Comittee, Marketing & Promotion Committee, Streetscape & Safety Committee, and Cleanliness & Standards Committee. If you would like to join these committees, please feel free to contact our office directly. We strive to build a communication network in conjunction with our website to keep our members and the public well informed on what is happening in Chinatown.

Toronto Chinatown is a magnificent community and with the help of others, it has the potential in becoming an even better place.

We look forward to seeing you!

Best Regards,

Tony Yu
